BASEBALL: From Braden to Vladimir?

The Mets have finalized their deal with Braden Looper. I’m not crazy about this deal – Looper’s a pretty mediocre closer – but I recognize that it is short-term, two-year deal and doesn’t break the bank. Looper gives the Mets an extra arm in the bullpen and if he doesn’t pan out, he shouldn’t long stand in the way of the younger closer prospects they have in their system.

At the same time, the Mets are now rumored to be trying to sneak in and sign Vladimir Guerrero at a relatively bargain rate. Very interesting.
