BASEBALL: So Close, So Far
It always seems to be guys like Kit Pellow who break up no-hitters. The Mets' 42-year-streak of giving up at least one hit in every game continues. I didn’t get to see this one, although I was following updates via the Braves game (and, man, does it take a lot to sit through listening to their catatonic announcers), but it’s good to see Tom Glavine pitching like the Glavine Of Old, rather than like last year’s Just-Plain-Old Glavine. And, at least, Pellow’s hit was a legitimate, hard-hit double.
Also, the Mets have now evened their record at 22-22.
